If the MRT doesn't identify the disk information (model/serial/capacity/etc.) after replacing the read head, should I be concerned about the procedure performed, or is the disk identification information located in the ROM?
The disk in question is a WD 500GB Tahoe LT family.

Thank´s, everyone.

Why are you asking about the ROM?

Did it have a PCB swap?

Yes, Tim, I first replaced the PCB with an identical one, and still got no results. In the second step, I replaced the read heads, and that also didn't work.

If you swapped the ROM to the new PCB, then the heads may not be compatible, it has media damage or the preamp may not be correct. Have you tried booting up by blocking the SA, mod 02 or mod 30?

Meant to also add, you need to use a loader.

Sorry, Tim, I don't know how to do this with the Service Area. My MRT knowledge is still very early.

I've considered the idea of perhaps replacing the read heads on the hard drive from which I got the donor PCB. Do you think this is a valid idea?

+1 for heads compatibility.

Tahoe and Tahoe LT are picky on heads.

Besides DCM, matching microjogs as best as possible is a priority. You will find some heads work getting ID and reading SA, but not data. Multiple head swaps may be needed to read all surfaces.

Each head swap may require starting drive off of head 0 via RAM Head Map Edit.

Try are prone to disk surface damage, bit it is not too bad usually.

I found another donor hard drive with the same model, capacity, and manufacturing date very close to the donor's. In this case, the chances of the read heads being the same are high, right?

What you need to be doing to learn MRT firmware fixes is to practice on the donor drive you are getting in. Never use a clients drive to learn from. As in this case, you don’t know what the drive/MRT is supposed to be showing you or how to resolve the issue. Look at MRT and PC3000 videos and learn as much as you can. Then experiment on the donor drive first.
