I need to scrape and recover some elementary h.264 streams from a security dvr. Reclaime is seeing files that are exactly 4GB each but the format is not being recognized. Anyone have any advice?

You can tell Paul doesn't pay for the software himself. Lol.

Here is the best software I have found at a very reasonable price.

Lol

Few things.

Dme is not that much more that there Enterprise version.

Most software that is cheap sold on the web doesn't work .  I've played with a lot of them including hx and u will be surprised how many file systems are not supported.  I've used it side by side and it's worked on 2 out of 10 drives.

We r always looking for less expensive products to lower our budget so I can get more tools for the toolbox but when cases go to trial so don't wanna be the  person explaining that you bought a 49.99 product that you have to finagle to get to work.

Thanks for spending my money wisely….lol.

I agree that DVR Examiner is probably the best on the market. However I was assuming the OP wanted this as just a one off recovery and at $200 HXDVR is the best value on the market for that type of work. The good thing about HXDVR is that if a format is not supported, he will log in and set it up for you and you can test it for free to see if your DVR is supported.

Sysdev also has a very good program that has a one time usage option https://www.sysdevlabs.com/product.php?id=mcctv

I sure wish I had Paul’s budget to buy gear with. 😜

Don’t take that the wrong way, Paul. I do sincerely appreciate the fact that you take the time to share you experience and expertise with us. You are probably the most knowledgeable person I have ever come across when it comes to phones and mobile devices.

Chris, you have a few choices when it comes to DVR drives.

DVR examiner - $600 per use or $60k for the full license last I checked. Great software but speedy.

HX Recovery - $600 for a lifetime license. The software is not as refined as DVR Examiner but it will get you the same results in the end. It recovers files as raw h.246 streams so you either need to tweak the settings to get the files to play or use something like handbrake to convert them to MP4.

I wrote up instructions on the process a while back for work. I will post them when I get to work.

The latest version of UFS explorer has support for DVR drives but I have not had the chance to test it out.

Y'all both wrong, at least, as of 2 months ago when I asked for a quote :).

DVR Examiner is $3995 (not including yearly subscription). Or $995 for single use.

I stand corrected. It's been quite a few years since I checked the price of DVR examiner. It looks like they lowered the purchase price quite a bit since they are no longer the the only game in town.

I just fired him a line on Skype.

In the meantime, I suggest looking at SysDev labs MyDriveRecorder and MyCCTV Recovery softwares.  They are great in providing remote assistance when the file system isn't already supported.

With regards to DVR examiner, I had a project last year where I needed to recover deleted files.  DRV Examiner would support what I needed (I confirmed with tech support), yet I was able to recover the files with HXDVR.  That isn't to say that DVR Examiner isn't a great product, but sometimes expensive isn't always better (in some cases).

I must be blind because I've looked on this page before but I don't see a download link. If I click the link for "Product Website" it redirects to a page that says "Check back soon. Work in progress."
