I have a mybook duo with 2 wd6tb drive in a stripe set

One drive was getting media errors and the raid failed.

When I read the data its encrypted and pc3k doesnt decrypt.

User says that there is no user password.

The internal controller board encrypts the data, like normal WD external drives.

one of the drives has media errors
I could clone it to a healthy same model
but putting it back together isnt going to work because the wd will see a foreign serial number.

Do I have to clone the serial number to make it accept it?

How do I get an unencrypted copy of the drives?

Clone to similar drives. Write mod 25 (and maybe mod 38 too) from patients to clones. Plug drives in enclosure and it should work, depending on metadata being affected by bad sectors of course.

update

I cloned the bad wd60 to a same model
I edited the sn in Edit HDD ID
and wrote 25 28 copy 0 from the patient to the clone.
plugged into duo and can see decrypted files..

I may be wrong, but i think it's now supported by UFS.

the SN must be changed.
as a test I wrote the original sn back to the clone - still using donors mods
and it didnt mount
so you must change sn and 2 mods for this to work.
