Hello to every one !!!!!

In my job, We are receiving all months chinese ssd based in the controller ys9082hp, until I know this controller is based in the ps3111, and I am trying all loaders from the pc3k without success, and for more than I put the drive in safe mode the pc3k in the log tells me is not, I clarify that I think it is in safe mode because the id that the ssd gives me is completely different from when it does not have the short circuit. One thing who call my attention is the model of the controller show me in safe mode is different from the package, in safe mode in model appears ys9086bb-1 and in the package appears ys9082hp.

Anyone has some experience with this model, for moments I doubt if the drive is really in safe mode I try all sort of combinations to short circuit between the pads and only one give me a different id.

I am very grateful to anyone who read my post and even more if comments

thanks very much and my best regardsIMG_20230210_095248693.jpgIMG_20230210_095255088.jpgnormal.pngsafe mode.png

A lot of these types of SSDs (Chinese especially) have had firmware tweaks by the manufacturers. So while it might be a PS3111, it’s probably been altered in some way making the loaders not work.

Interestingly one of the photos you posted looked like it had full capacity (128gb). Is that before or after safe mode? And is that full capacity?

These appear to be budget SSDs. The marking on the PCB (YSP4-SA-CYS-S-007-12) would suggest that this is a reference design. If so, then the OEMs would get a ready-to-go package with an MPTool that enables them to configure the device to their specific needs. I can't imagine that any of these cheapies would go to the extent of modifying the actual firmware. Wouldn't they need the source code for that?

I took "manufacturers" to mean "OEMs". I can see your point if you are referring to the controller manufacturer.

I don’t know how it’s done exactly. But manufacturers like SM do ‘white label’ SSDs when you buy the ‘package’ and build the SSD. I know a lot of those have firmware changes that mean standard loaders will not work. I suspect that if you buy enough of the white label product SM might do some changes for you for free, or maybe a nominal fee. I have never researched it.

ASolid controllers are also claimed to be based on the PS3111.

@arvika speculates that the "design of PCB more likely is similar to SSD based on SM22xx families than PS3111".
