I recovered a drive recently and the main thing she wanted was the indesign files.

Of the 20 big indd files there was 1.8 gb and only 40mb of bad sectors
but all of them have bad sectors
Nothing would read the bad sectors even with tons of retries
and util mode was just garbage.

An example is a 1.2mb indd file
with 1 bad 4096 byte bad sector

but it wont open

So I am looking for a salvage or repair tool for INDD files

but I see nuttin out there.

Its really easy to set up a new file type in R-Studio these days. You can right click on the hex data of a good file and it allows you to copy the header into the new file signature.

Ask your customer if you can upload a damaged file. Perhaps someone could patch it so that it can work without the missing sector(s), especially now that Scott has found the spec.

with a spec like that you would expect a parser would exist.
