Hello everyone, how are you?
I need information on how to check the preamp type information of a Seagate ST4000DM005 hard drive on MRT. Could someone guide me, if possible?
Or tell me if the read head set of the ST4000DM005 is compatible with that of the ST4000DM004.
Thank you.

Hi There,

If terminal is unlocked and you have access (F3 T> prompt available) for the drive, enter CTRL +L
Key Combination, the result will look something like that : -

I have highlighted the PReamp info

Let me know if you have any questions

I presume as he needs preamp info the drive has head failure and CTRL-L will not work.

Hello, how are you? I really appreciate your help, but unfortunately I didn't have access to the terminal through my MRT. Terminal doesn't work in this case. Any other way to get the PreAmp Type information?

Sorry. I didn't understand. At least I didn't find that information. I removed it and didn't find it.

Thank´s Lucas.

Where the preamp cable plugs into the board there should be a little label with either AG, LSI, or TI on it. I believe AG and LSI are fairly compatible with each other but not TI. My experience on these larger Seagates is that they are usually AG but that could just be by chance. Whatever you find on the label is what you should try to get as a donor. Of course, it is unlikely that some random guy selling drives will do this for you but Donor Drives might. You will pay a whole lot more for a drive from them, though.
