Is anyone aware of any source of information about the population density by either pin codes, or wards or Parliamentary or assembly constituency.

I am trying to do a bit of a granular study of population and population growth patterns and any bit of help will be appreciated.

Regards,
Abhishek

Have you looked at the World Pop Dataset ( WorldPop :: Population Counts) ?

They seem to be a good estimate in my opinion.

Another resource is LANDSCAN
You can apply zonal statistics in qgis or something similar overlaying with a shapefile to get village/district/state totals
