Historical shapefiles for states, Lok Sabha and assembly constituencies

Hello,

I am looking for historical shapefiles going back to 1956 for state boundaries, Vidhan Sabha and Lok Sabha constituencies. I know many are available through ML Infomap but I am wondering if there is an open source alternative. Thanks!
