Respected Neeraj Sir and all the members of the group.
Greetings to all!

Two of the objectives of my study are
 3. To investigate the relationship between demographic characteristics and the dependent variable.
4. To investigate the moderating impact of demographic characteristics on the relationship between independent variables and dependent varaible.

Sir,  I am using Smart PLS 4 for the analysis, and I am very confused doing the analysis using demographic variables as they serve as independent variables as well as the moderating variables (kindly refer to the conceptual model attached). There are 4 demographic variables in the study, which are the categorical variables, where gender has two categories, whereas age group, educational qualification, and annual income have 4 categories each.

Sir, what I have learned is that as far as Objective 3. is concerned, we can create dummy variables for each demographic variable, and then we can use these dummy variables as independent variables in our structural model to analyze their direct effects on the dependent variable.

But for objective 4, I have been suggested to categorize the demographic variables into two categories and then do multi-group analysis (MGA) to study the moderation impact.

Sir, my concern is how to align the two analyses in the same study. How we can coexist these two analyses within the same measurement and structural model. Since these two approaches are separate. I have been searching a lot for the literature pertaining to the similar study, but was unable to find it.

Kindly provide some solution, sir.

warm regards

Dear Nikhil
MGA uses z/t-test which works only on 2 categories, hence you are advised to convert your demo vars into binary. If it is possible then go ahead with it else you've 2 options:
1. Use MGA and compare all pairs of categories of one var.
2. Compare all categories simultaneously using R-package cSEM
Best wishes

Respected Sir, Thank you so much for your valuable guidance.
Sir, I have one query from a thesis perspective. Since I am using Smart PLS-SEM for all the objectives, can I do it this way?
First, I create the dummy variables for all the demo variables to investigate the relationship between demographic characteristics and the dependent variable and then separately, in a portion, I can show the moderation analysis by converting demo variables into 2 categories as binary and show path analysis separately.

It's a kind request if you could share any specific video or literature at your convenience pertaining to MGA using Smart PLS-SEM.

Sincere regards
