Respected sir, faculty members and members,
I am trying to build a simple model based upon one independent variable and three dependent variables. Now, while writing my dissertation, in the LR section, i have first introduced my topic, its origin, difference between other topics, and types, etc. then, i have selected few variables/constructs for my model based upon past studies and i will test them using SEM. Now, the explanation (meaning) and the relationship of those variables (between IV & DV) will come under theoretical framework? and how is it different from conceptual framework?

Regards,
Dhun

Hi Dhun,

There are two points:
a. Theory building, theory development, theory testing and theoretical model
and
b. Concept building, concept development, concept testing and conceptual model and conceptual framework

They are very important in the research. There are different ways to proceed further for them. It is not feasible for me to explain everything in the mail. There are roles to play through observations and empirical investigations prior to Review ofLiterature. In case you are relying totally on ROL, then kindly recognize and develop appropriate theoretical models with following points:
a. What prior studies tell you about the relationship between Variables?
b. Did you observe any gaps and missing links?
c. What kind of variables are existing for the research like antecedent, consequent, proxy, etc.?
d. What will be your contribution towards the research?

Develop your model accordingly and discuss it in a few words. This will certainly enrich your research.

You may attend some workshops wherein there is a discussion on these points. These areas are equally important while selecting and recognizing your own philosophical assumptions and generalizations for the research.

Thanks and regards,

Protocols of this Group:

1. Plz search previous post in group before posing the question.
2. Don't write query in someone's post. Always use the option of New topic for the new question. You can do this by writing to dataanalys...@googlegroups.com
3. Its better to give a proper subject to your post/query. It'll help others while searching.
4. Never write Open ended queries. This group intend to help research scholars NOT FOR WORK THEM.
5. Never write words like URGENT in ur posts. People will help them when they are free.
6. Never upload any info about National Seminars/Conferences. Send such info on personal emails. And feel free to share any RESEARCH related info.
7. No Happy New Year, Happy Diwali, Happy Holi, Happy B'day, Happy Anniversary etc. allowed on this group.
8. Few months back there was a facility for asking & sharing the Research Papers. Now there is no provision of asking for the research paper here.

Let’s make a better research environment.

Dear Dhun,

A Theory is broad framework for conceptualizing relationships between variables and guiding research towards fuller understanding of the phenomena. This is then described in the relationship between specific variables identified in the study which is identified as the Conceptual Framework

The researcher collects assessment data prescribed by the theory, and conducts statistical analysis (e.g. you mentioned SEM) on the variables in the conceptual framework to determine if predictions are supported or refuted.

Hope this helps.

Sunil
