https://www.sciencenews.org/article/earth-inner-core-superionic-matter-weird-solid-liquid

Towards the bottom of the article it mentions the rotation difference could result from hydrogen, oxygen, and carbon flowing amongst the iron and silicon atoms primarily making up the inner core. The swirling is thought to change distribution of iron and silicon atoms.

The article does discuss secondary and primary waves in the core in a general way, but it makes sense these could contribute to plate tectonics if able to coherently find a way past the mantle.

Thanks!

Yep, maybe the core is partly electromagnetic.  With that massive flux of charged ions swirling around, both inside the core and supplied from cosmic rays?

Many thanks,

Andy

Told you there is a lot more to polar activity. The core to be honest is not iron. It's plasma in a high state of flux that has the density similar to iron hence cooling it forms iron and other materials, like silver, gold and so on. The story of Tiamat's golden vains are not so far fetched now huh ....

Kind regards
Wayne
