Error storing surface senses

Hello

I am having trouble to export my geometry into a .h5m file format using dagmc.

I've came across this problem already in this query.

the problem might be overlapping.

If the problem is indeed caused by overlapping, how can I fix it using cubit?

Anyway,

:here is the full log of the error

Cubit>export dagmc "test.h5m"

Setting faceting tolerance to 0.001

Setting length tolerance to 0

Setting normal tolerance to 5

Found 81822 entities of dimension 0

Found 135347 entities of dimension 1

Found 57301 entities of dimension 2

Found 958 entities of dimension 3

Surface 58831 has reverse sense with multiple volume 273 and volume 284

Error storing surface senses: 16

ERROR: Command Failed.

Any help will be appreciated.

You can check for overlapping volumes with Cubit (which should always be done before attempting particle transport). It is also good practice to also check for overlaps using the overlap_check tool in case Cubit misses an overlap. Use /pathToWhereYouInstalledDAGMC/DAGMC/bin/overlap_check --help for a brief help message.

Hello All,

I'm getting some similar errors when I use 'set attribute on' in preparation to export my model to a DAGMC h5m file. I get a series of errors that say:

MOAB ERROR: Failed to set the sense!

MOAB ERROR: set_senses() line 1141 in GeomTopoTool.cpp

or

MOAB ERROR: get_senses() line 1075 in GeomTopoTool.cpp

However I've used the overlap_check function from DAGMC and it says I don't have any overlaps. DAGMC and the rest of my workflow still seem to work, but something clearly seems to be wrong with my model. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Kevin,

Can you answer a few questions that will help me troubleshoot your problem:

1) what CAD software did you use to create your geometry?

2) what file format did you use to import the model into cubit?

3) did you get any warnings from cubit when you imported the model?

4) what operations did you perform in cubit before trying to export to dagmc format?

5) If possible, can you provide your cubit history file recorded from when you try to import, prepare, then export the model (the name is usually something like historyXX.jou (this file would capture the answers to my above questions)

6) can you provide your original model that you tried to import into cubit? (or a reduced model with the same issues if your model is very complex)

Hi Tim and Andrew,

Thanks for your responses. It looks as though I did have some overlaps after all, however they aren't caught by the overlap_check. They were caught by Cubit's "find overlap" command, however. I'll work to fix the overlaps and let you know if I have any other trouble. Again, thanks for the help!
