string-db data load error

Hi All, 

I am getting the following error when I try to import data from String-db for my list of genes (n=45). I am not sure what the problem is and appreciate any help. 

Cytoscape v. 3.8.2

Java v. 11.0.6

OS Mac OS X 10.14.6 - x86_64 

Loading data from STRING for 45 identifiers.

• Network error: Unexpected error when parsing JSON from server: Server returned HTTP response code: 503 for URL: https://api11.jensenlab.org/network
• null

• Unexpected error when parsing JSON from server: Server returned HTTP response code: 503 for URL: https://api11.jensenlab.org/network

• Caught exception executing task.

Hi,

HTTP response code 503 means that the Service is temporarily unavailable. I tested it now and it works for me, so I suspect it was an issue at the specific moment when you tried. Please let me know if you still encounter the problem or not at a later time point.

Yes, it seems to be down, currently.

Yes, it was down and it is fixed now. This time it was the stringApp backend server.

Hello, I'm having a similar problem since yesterday

I got error 503 message and now I get "your query returned no results due to an error. Unknown host: version 11.string-db.org"

Hi Carmen,

Unfortunately, as of 30th Oct 2024, stringApp no longer has access to STRING v11.5. If you really need to work with STRING v11.5 networks, you can do that via the web interface, download the data and import it in Cytoscape as Network from file.

If you are on the latest version of stringApp and Cytoscape and using the alternative configuration, you just need to revert that. If not, then you will need to update Cytoscape and stringApp to the latest versions, which will then access STRING v12.

Hi,

I installed Cytoscape 3.10.3 and stringApp 2.1.1, but I encountered an error on the https://string-db.org/ page:

stringApp communication error. Confirm the you have the
latest version of stringApp (2.1+) and Cytoscape (3.10+) installed.

Additionaly, I  encountered   the following error in Cytoscape:

POSTing JSON from https://api12.jensenlab.org/network

Unexpected error from server: Connect timed out

How can I fix it?

We just released version 2.2 of stringApp, so you need to update to that one for things to work.
