Hey all, if you're looking for a racing opportunity that features a lot of opportunities to gain experience and to try out the various functional positions of a race boat, this could be a situation for folks who are not too far from Everett.
Samurai is a '77 Santana 30, PHRF 207. I know, old and slow haha! She flies a symmetrical kite and she is competitive in MSA's "B" Fleet for club racing. As our core crew has learned and become experience we've starting winning races and we intend to remain competitive.
We're in the season of our Mid-Distance Races, longer 6 hour races around the region and we are signed up to do Round Whidbey this year. You can find more about MSA racing at the club's web site at
https://milltownsailing.org/Racing.
Every boat would love to have more foredeck experience but the fact is that we try to train everyone to try out positions.
Race days are on Saturdays in March-June and when we don't race we're either prepping the boat or practicing. Please be prepared to commit to the program for the series.
If you reach out to me, please be prepared to say something about your level of experience, willingness to be part of the program and do you actually live in a place where you can reach the Port of Everett Marina in a way that doesn't require an hour or more in traffic! :)
Thanks a lot!
