Dave,

I have never gambled much. Once in a casino in Quebec Ben and I were doing slot machines side by side. I kept winning and he kept losing, so I gave him my winnings. I think we came out even.

I have two second cousins who have won millions playing poker in Vegas, Howard Lederer “The Professor” and his sister Annie Lederer Duke. Their g-grandmother was my grandmother Sledge’s older sister, valedictorian of Memphis High School Class of 1904.

Here’s a book Annie wrote. Very funny!

    I used to get together with C.A. McGowan on my trips to Vegas as he had moved out there. He was one of our star baseball pitchers OM our run to the TN State Campionship Game.

The slots! It just kept delivering and rolling. In those few seconds I experienced the thrill of winning in gambling - as it kept whirling and spewing evidence of more money, I recall for a few seconds thinking —- this could be BIG! We had fun in Vegas!
