We think we may get some tonight, but the weather people targeted us for 1:00 PM today.   It is not going to happen that fast.  We too will stay inside and hope that we keep electric power.  Margo

Dear fellow Cubs,
We got some much needed snow here in northern Colorado also. It's 11° now headed for a high of 17°. More snow is likely tomorrow and slightly colder temperatures ( lows somewhere from 4° to -5°).  I was always very excited by snow in Memphis and, after living most of my life in Central Texas, I am still transported by actual snowfall. It is so beautiful.  Hope all of you still living in the South are lucky with power lines and able to enjoy the snow and ice from the comfort of your homes.
WARM wishes to all,
Susan Grafton Alexander

Susan,

I love the look of snow, too. Ice is a different story. Our flight to Asheville has been delayed by 4 hours to arrive at 11 pm tomorrow, if it indeed makes it. If we get there we’ll have to see what the roads are like, maybe staying in a motel tomorrow night.

Here in Richmond we are ready and waiting, praying for it to not be the storm they say here! I have so many large pines and oaks in my yard and ice would really be a bad situation! I’m at my daughter’s house with large wood stove.😳❄️😨🥶😱🙏🙏

Wood stoves are a big plus when the power goes out, Karen. Good luck with your trees.

Karen,

Our flight got canceled at the last minute so we’re staying over a couple of days in Sin City. Going to see MeowWolf tomorrow. Sounds like a very interesting place.

I hope everyone is ok.

Paul

We got about 4-5” of snow, but the sleet and freezing rain has a thick coat of ice 🧊 that is hard to stay upright when walking. However, my son-in-law put a lot of sand on their pavement, and with four-whew drive, he got us out of the house to get 13 bags of sand…it’s better for traction on ice. Besides everyone’s out of salt now. Then we walked laps in Target while my daughter was getting a good deal (?) on 6 cell phone lines with ATT switching from Verizon! Hoping it is a good deal…have 30 days to see! This snow was dry PTL so nothing on the trees!! BUT we have another blast Sat/Sun that the forecast has been shifting every day. Roger has snow duty again this weekend at the airport. He an electrician, but he’s on second shift… they put them up in the closest hotel tomorrow night to make sure!😱😉🙏🤞Praying that the trees will stay upright, we escaped the bullet this time with power still on!! BTW the monks for peace were walking through Richmond Sun., but now it is Tuesday. They have a stray dog from India walking some after he had a ligament injury. Neat story. Hope to see them if we can get out Tuesday. Was sorry to hear MS and FL are involved in this mess! FL May even get Gulf effect snow in western peninsula and panhandle! Temps are really low here, so nothing on melting even with sun out! Stay safe and stay upright! Door dash insta cart and delivery are the best for us octogenarians! Are y’all back yet, Paul? Slip in before the next blast. Sin City can get boring 🥱 too many days. Maybe some show are good??👀❄️⛄️No more ice🧊I’m headed to Charleston Feb 16th on a train!! Then ???? Did you really want to hear from a gal with cabin fever living out of a suitcase and bags?

Karen,

We booked a United Flight through Chicago on Tuesday. It left early, and I was so nervous about missing it we got to the airport by 2 am. But everything was on time and we got back to Asheville at 5 pm while the sun was still shining. It helped a lot since we had to get ice off our windshield. But my car started right up. There was no ice at our house, and it was warm when we walked in. I had left the heat on.

We’re supposed to get 4 to 6 inches of fluffy snow overnight tomorrow into Saturday, the same storm that you, Tina, and Dean will be dealing with coming in from the Atlantic Ocean.  I got food in today. The grocery store was packed but people were being very courteous to each other.

The posted pictures of the ice storm in Nashville are sobering. Was it that bad in Oxford, David McComas?

Hope Roger will be ok at work.

Paul

This was the most serious ice over event since I moved to Oxford. The roads have mostly cleared up now & the sun has melted the ice on my steep driveway. My car is out of my garage. & my drive is melted & clear enough to go down & pay my family and Kroger a visit. My kitty, Whistlebritches is sleeping peacefully in her snow watching / napping chairs. I think I will just enjoy another fireplace day, read a bit & see about venturing back out tomorrow zzzzzz

Good to hear from you, David.  We're snowbound for at least a couple of days.  Thankfully it's the light, fluffy kind that looks pretty but doesn't break power lines and limbs.  We invited a young neighbor couple and their two kids over for brownies and hot chocolate at lunch time.  The kids are loving the snow, of course.  I did the first work on my taxes.  Always a bit stressful, but a good thing to do on a snowy day.

Attached is a photo of the young family when they came over for Christmas.
