Robert, I am of the school ( after much Training), that you should celebrate at least a month, and whenever the mood strikes. But birthdays are a lovely time to start the festivities. Have a great day, week, month, and year!
Susan

Robert, it is hard to believe that even you have turned 80; I am beginning to think we are getting old.

I celebrated my 80th last weekend with Jenny (Emison) Ewing and Harriet (Gaither) Gram in Ten Mile, TN.

Maybe 90 is old ...

Friends,

Sorry I am late responding to your birthday wishes.  Just got back from a day trip to Shiloh, TN.

Son Neil flew to New Orleans on Sunday and then drove around Louisiana, Mississippi and Arkansas before arriving in Memphis on Friday.  He insisted that we celebrate my 80th my eating at Hagy’s Catfish Hotel in Shiloh along the Tennessee River.  Attached is a photo from said meal with wife Susan.  What a meal.  We then toured Shiloh Battlegrounds and Indian Mounds before heading home in a rain storm.

Thanks again for the well wishes Paul, Phil, Christina, Margo, Kit, Susan, Mike and Raymond.

Thanks Julie – it was a very good day.  Still have a few pieces of my favorite chocolate sheet cake that Susan made.

Margo,

The hat was courtesy of Burger King and was then altered to fit the occasion.

Karen,

Thank you for the wishes and life advice.  I’m sure it is difficult without Don being physically present though your memories will always be alive.

Yes, indeed 60 yrs married plus 5 yrs dating…many memories and many ups and downs of living, and now finding my balance. Read a book about Near Death Experiences that described heaven, and that has helped me know Don’s doing well.  Also it makes you look forward to stepping over and not being afraid of death.

Robert, you mentioned going to Shiloh. I didn’t know until Jensen Franklin mentioned the glowing soldiers on the fields of Shiloh. Neat article! These High School students in 2001 researched it and one of their mother’s had research luminescence in some nematodes eating insides of insects. So because the battle was fought in the rain, and the soldiers were in the mud, and temps were low, the soldiers that glowed ended up surviving! You may already know this!  Karen

Karen,

Thanks for the info.  Had not heard that story.  Shiloh is an interesting place.
