Just put the cube together today and the demo ran good.  Was able to connect it to Wi-Fi and now the demo program won't run.  The LED is "breathing Cyan" after a reset and demo doesn't run.  Setting the switch to "Offline" doesn't make any difference.  Is there something I am doing wrong?

Sorry to hear that.

After connecting to your Wifi, did you do anything else, like flashing a viz from the gallery?
Could you try flashing the original demo code (that's available on the gallery) to your cube?

I flashed the original demo code as you suggested and it worked !! Fixed the problem.  I think what I did was when using the Particle phone app, it indicated the device had gone offline.  So when I was trying to get it back online, I selected the "Reflash Tinker" option  (not knowing what I was doing) and that probably erased the program ??  Anyway, it is working now and I appreciate your help.

Glad to hear.

Yes, the "Reflash Tinker" option in the Particle app does exactly that: it flashes the Tinker firmware to the photon, thus erasing the previous contents in the flash area; the Tinker firmware only serves to test the photon's I/O pins in real time with the app.

For future reference, you can fix problems like that and others (photon "bricked" or in an undefined state) with our Cube Doctor program (see first topic on the forum list).

I agree this "reflash Tinker" is misleading. It makes sense when playing with a naked Photon, but for us Cubers, it causes more harm than we need.

How about a dedicated L3D iOS app to set up cubic Photons in lieu of the Particle one? Interfaced to our CubeTube gallery to play a viz to a cube on our own?
Including an iOS pixel editor to draw on the cube from the phone? Use the phone's accelerometers, microphone, camera for new cool effects?

This would help bring Cubic Light to the masses with far less headaches...

Wish I had time to develop this. Why aren't days longer than 24 hours?!?!

I also have a couple Androids laying around gathering dust, not sectarian.

Hi,

Thanks for your suggestions -- I'm sure the guys at Looking Glass are watching these forums, and maybe it could possibly turn into a phone app developed for this purpose.
