Hi All

Can anyone recommend a wireless ISP for bothasig area.

It is for my sister.  She will not download a lot, more for research and work from home purposes (VPN to office), so a small capped account will suffice.

Any recommendations.

thanks all

I will always recommend ecc systems,  they price  1mb line @ R200.  They are uncapped and  I mean uncapped,  the owner off the wisp doesn't care how much you download I know of people doing 300gb a month.  Here is the catch they don't allow p2p so uit can YouTube all you want but no torrents,  they have a warning system in place every time that download a torrent they start banning you.  First for a day then a week and even a month.

Their uptime is good but their phone in service is worse than telkom. Another plus is they use ubiquiti so when you phone tell them you already have a bullet and 27dbi groove,  how will the installation be. Could save you a fee bucks.

I don't have andries(bossman ) number maybe Scharll or Bruce can give it to you or the office number.

Regards ogon

PS they don't detect newshost

If you hear ESS, run………  as far as you can……

Customer service is the worst,

When I complained too much, they offered to cancel my service rather than fix it.

Sure, if the service works you can download all you want, but heaven help you if there is a problem.

Any reason not to go ADSL? Not sure if they still have it but the Telkom Simple plans were pretty good vale for money.

There is currently no Telkom line, so without facts or figures to back me up, I believe that a WISP will be cheaper than Telkom line plus ADSL for the casual internet user.

Well if you're that casual let's say 5GB a month or less. Then 3G/LTE becomes an option and you can take it with you if you travel.

Tunnelling back to the office VPN becomes an issue with MTU sizes.

Officially, tunneling 0/0 over the WUG is an issue. Personally I don't see an issue as long as you're not sending the traffic over a backbone (1 or two hops max). The issue is when the public system is abused.

So if you have a 100Mb connection to the person providing your 10Mb Internet connection ... nobody cares.

Speaking of which, Sensei, if we can get that connection between us going directly ... *whistles*

Try Neotel. Speeds are not the greatest though. Works for me and you get a wifi telephone.
