Excellent Trevor. Ā My Ha version just before cloud arrived and nothing possible after that. Ā Not a very active sun, with only one decent sunspot and no major prominences.

Lunt 60, f8.3/500mm, ZWO 178 mono, best 200/1000 frames between 10:25:00 and 10:25:35, 3.15ms each, gain 90. Ā Autostakkert4, IMPPG, colourised using levels in CS2

Thanks James.Ā
I like your Ha version, I keep meaning to look at buying one. Would it show prominences if there were any?

Yes, Ha telescopes show up prominences both visually and for imaging.

Either prominences are imaged on their own, with a black circle inserted to replace the over exposed sun surface, which sounds clumsy but I think it works well to focus attention, or by taking two separate images for proms and surface and combining, or by processing with curves to bring out both proms and surface from one image.

This is a combination image I took in August 2019 with my Lunt.

It's all surprisingly challenging, eg seeing/weather, the unpredictability of Sun features (the Solar cycle will now be heading towards relative inactivity but you can still get lucky), and processing is entirely different to DSO. Ā A never ending journey, which appeals to me.Ā

And no need for hours of imaging plus it's generally a warm activity!
