Here is my attempt to image the Western Veil using my unmodified Canon 700D dslr.
There is a distinct lack of red due to the camera's built-in filter.
Some more filaments can be seen to the left.
As you can see, there are far too many stars visible. How do you image faint nebulae without getting so many stars?
Esprit 80ED with field flattener, 10x660s lights and 2 darks.
Processed with DeepSkyStacker and enhanced with Photoshop.

Yes a NewtonianThis is 25 Lights at ISO800 and 300 Second exposures, 10 darks and 10 flats.Stacked with DSS and then cropped and light adjustments on the levels and curvesits actually on our home page http://croydonastro.org.uk/ top banner.I keep thinking about a CCD but I dont think I have pushed my DSLR to the limit yet.Depending on the target with a modded DSLR you can get good resutls see attached.John BJohn B
