The revised article about running Cromix Z80 without the need for a Graphical Front panel is published

With Udo's latest code upgrade I can start and restart the Cromix Virtualisation from a line in Cron daily.   This satisfies the need to start the system afresh each day to guard against the inevitable ... hacker ... ooh look I just trashed your system ... aren't I a clever person then scenario.

I think I got everything right, if not do comment!

In the Youtube video  (20210802 Cromemco Cromix 11.27 Emulation under Linux using Z80Pack) 4 disks are shown. Is there a way to just  download these  4 disks.
The github cromemcos/m private is very large and my system keeps crashing around 3GB (plenty of disk space)
thnks Colin

Dear Colin,

So you can simply open up the repository in the GUI view, navigate to the bit that you need and download simply that .RAR file ....

Alternatively you can sit at the command line and issue commands to pull down the entire repository to your local hard disk but this is multiple GB and extreme overkill !

For me as a somewhat gihub noob    (What was wrong with SCCS,  that's what I say)  the learning and oops curve has been many and often.

As a test I pressed the download button and it was a 39MB download into my browsers preferred directory.

Please write back to say that this worked for you.

And welcome to the forum by the way

marcus

Thank you Udo and Marcus for the info. Downloaded ok and all running in z80pack. Only difference I noticed was that cromix still goes into login prompt and not as per video but I’ve not had time to play as now on holiday for a week. This provides good opportunity to read the cronix instruction manual!
