Dear All,

image.png
So the time has come   (I am very upset)  to really leave my beloved Switzerland (for good) and here in Lausanne are my original 4 boxes worth of 8" and 5.25" mostly Cromemco diskettes.

These diskettes are the ones I painstakingly imaged and put up onto Github.

I would dearly love to somehow gift these boxes to somebody who could use them, else they are going to the trash.

Ideally somebody would come to Lausanne 1010 Switzerland and we'd arrange a pickup.  The media is free to anybody in the Cromemco Users Group [or to any bona fide Vintage Collector who can use them]

Shipping?   To the rest of Europe but certainly to the USA would be prohibitively expensive?  Each box is over 10Kg and they are sitting in an IKEA Kallax unit (to give an idea of box size)   . If somebody can use the Swiss Postal Website to figure out the postage, and agree to pay,  then I could try to package.   But they might not travel well etc.

SUMMARY:
4 large boxes of predominantly Cromemco Diskettes
In 1010 Lausanne Switzerland
Free to pick up, please contact via SMS or email to Swiss phone in adverts below
If nothing is arranged by about August 2025, they will goto to the Swiss trash dechetterie  :-(

sad regards,

marcus.

So I had a wonderful meeting with Cedric Gaudin at the Lausanne Computer museum.

I could hardly believe my eyes when on a tour of the vaults I saw several hundred   (no I mean really several hundred) Vintage Computers stacked in thousands of square metres of storage.

They have a biggest interest in the Swiss Smaky computer range,  but we also managed to track down an almost new looking Cromemco Z2

So I will be donating my entire diskette collection to them.  And maybe in the month before I finally exist Lausanne I can work with them to get their system running.   I cannot believe I have not heard about them before.   Thanks Jos for the direction.

ALSO   I know that some of you have bought items from my ebay channel.

THIS IS NOT A SALES or SYMPATHY PITCH!    In the big 'life' changes I am about to make it is necessary for me to clear this inventory.
So here is the offer:  With a preference to those who have already bought something from me,   if you want any of the vintage computer items that I list,   I will take requests for them at basically NO ITEM COST .   Just send me a personal email with the ebay link or INV number and I will look into the International shipping cost and advise.   It might even work out cheaper to send via the ebay Global Shipping Programme  (GSP).

If I don't hear from you good people  in the coming weeks then I'll just drop the ebay pricing to almost zero and that might also work,  but I thought to offer the forum here first.  So if you wanted that QUADART or MFM Hard disk or  SCSI adapter card or Cromemco TAPES there has never been a better time to look at   www.ebay.co.uk/usr/smplfyi

regards marcus.

Marcus, so glad you found a home for them! I see in your eBay shop you have a 256kz for sale. Could you please get me a price plus shipping to the US? Thanks! The QUAD-ART is tempting but I'm sure someone else will want it more than me . Besides, I have a TU-ART which is functioning perfectly well.

Hi Marcus:

That DIAG card really got my attention.  I have a number of boards I'd like to ring out and the DIAG card seems like the way to go.
I'd be willing to pay the shipping/handling to get the board.

thanks
jc

Do you have an IOP? The quadarts are not very useful without ona AFAIK

Just curious - does the Octart also require an IOP or is it a standalone board?

OKay,   I am trying to progress my plan of shipping Cromemco/ Vintage items to predominantly US / Canada using ebay as the shipping mechanism.

I checked that my local national UK postal carrier will charge > 150 GBP i.e. >200 USD to ship a 10Kg small parcel to the US/Canada.

The plan therefore is to sell the items at ebay at low cost and ebay total cost including shipping and duty is likely less than using my national carrier.    That is my plan.

So anyways now 2 people have reported privately that they cannot complete an eBay sale since it says that I will not ship to their location.    This is ABSOLUTE RUBBISH and I am raising support requests to ebay for them to diagnose the problem.
In fact I already sold to one of you items using the ebay GSP programme so I know that it is entirely possible.

It is never easy!

To be continued.

regards marcus
