Hi Everyone. I'm in Yelapa, Mexico, and took my first SIV course. I tried documenting it, as it was a completely new experience for me.
I had a lot of respect for the sport before, but that respect is greatly enhanced now. And I definitely feel like I learned some valuable skills.

Here's the video (please excuse the choppy editing -- I have no rating at all as a video editor...):

Enjoy,
Joseph

It’s great that You got to take a clinic so early in your flying career. I said for many years the scariest things I did on a paraglider were in a clinic but now I have some real life experiences that a beat it and was glad for the training.

Nice video.  Your SAT looks more like a deep spiral to me, but hard to tell from the first person view.  SATs generally aren't crazy high G forces, spirals are.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Yes, it was a great experience, and one I hope to NOT repeat anytime soon.

To Mr. Steed, I did a deep spiral before this maneuver and could only hold it for like 2 turns before bugging out. Scared the crap out of me, and I felt what serious eye-popping g-force feels like.
The SAT was 98% of the way to insane, but once I got into it I didn’t feel out of control, and it was at least tolerable. I think the duration of it was what got me — it was like ten full rotations. The only reason I stayed in it so long was because my radio squelched out, and I couldn’t hear Fabul on the ground shouting, “Hands up! Let it go! Stop!” I kept going until I’d had enough and then pulled out. Fabul told me after I landed. It was just very intense. Unfortunately, Fabul didn’t get that one on video from the beach. I would love to see what it looked like from the outside.

Thanks again everyone.
