Dear RNO Leader,
I hope this email finds you well. As a trusted community leader, I am writing to share important updates regarding the Denver Clerk & Recorder’s 2026 budget, and several opportunities to support our office.
As you may know, Mayor Johnston’s 2026 budget proposal underfunds our office by $4.5 million which will decimate voter services in Denver. This reduction jeopardizes our election model and disenfranchises voters in both the 2026 primary and general mid-term elections. If passed, we will be required to reduce the number of vote centers and ballot drop boxes, eliminate drive through ballot drop offs and mobile voting coaches, and cut at least 300 on-call election judges. These reductions will result in slower, longer lines at polling centers, and will result in delayed ballot processing and final results.
My office has outlined all of the details regarding the potential budget impacts on the Denver Clerk and Recorder’s website here. I’ve also attached a one-page budget overview.
To support our effort to secure funding needed to adequately conduct 2026 elections, please consider taking the following actions:
Join other Denver residents by signing our petition to protect voter access. Consider sharing the petition with your networks.
Thank you for your time and consideration. If you have any questions, concerns, or other ideas for advocacy on this critical issue, do not hesitate to reach out to me or my team (copied).
In Solidarity,
Hon. Paul D. López
