I wonder how this will all end? When governments can force people to
accept an experimental medical procedure then people are slaves who no
longer own their own bodies.

Martin Armstrong writes:

We are standing silent when the unelected and unaccountable elites wage
war to change society and how we should live. This is an all-out war
against not just the American people but the entire world. They have
taken control of our pretend representatives who have converted our free
societies into tyranny.

In Russia, only one serf was allowed to leave the property once a year,
and his family remained. Never were two serfs ever allowed to leave to
go do something together. That was a death sentence. To suppress any
uprising, they have always imposed restrictions on movement. That is
what is taking place with these COVID passports.

Biden has eliminated more than 200 years of tradition that said, “Give
me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”
Instead, we have, “Give us only your vaccinated sheep who are compliant
and will do whatever the state tells them.” An unvaccinated American may
be forced to be vaccinated on arrival or turn around and leave. But this
does not apply to all places. Unvaccinated people crossing the border
from Mexico are welcome no matter what disease they have, provided they
vote Democrat.

Our time is coming, for even the fool is starting to look through all
the lies. If everyone is vaccinated and they still can get and spread
COVID, then why are the unvaccinated a danger to the vaccinated? None of
this makes sense anymore, for they are caught in an endless web of lies.

Does anyone know about living in the Panamanian mountains? I'm selling my house in San Francisco, CA. and want objective, varied opinions. Thanks, pt

Why would you ask a Costa Rica group about life in Panama?   And the moderators should have deleted this post due to its inflammatory political intentions.....

Hi, Joe.  While I agree that this has nothing to do with Costa Rica, I'm puzzled as to how a thread from 2021 got attached.  Odd.

Don
who keeps forgetting to see you when he goes to San Ramon.  🤦

My gosh Don, a ghost from the (fairly recent) past!!  Great to hear from you, albeit indirectly.   I didn't even notice the 2021 date on the incoming.  Probably an internet type screwup that I'd never understand, of which there are an increasing number.  The invitation to lunch is still open here in San Ramon, but with inflation, I'm likely to withdraw my hospitality.  Better take me up on it soon.  joe

Hi Guys,

This message has the hallmarks of an AI training run, but it could be legit.  After all, isn't the island of Costa Rica plumb in the middle of the Panama Canal?  And if you've got a canal, by definition you've got mountains (or at least banks) on either side.  While it is rare, perhaps someone really would want to trade the San Fran life for living in El Parque Internacional La Amistad?  After all, 1000's of the Naso, Bribri, and Ngöbe-Buglé seem to like it.  ;-)  A little more on the beaten path and a popular expat destination not too far from Costa Rica and in the Panamanian mountains is Boquete.  I have never been there, but I did get close to it one time when I accidentally snuck into Panama while on a shopping run to Golfito and Paso Canoas.  That sort of makes me an expert on it.

LinkedIn does tout a Paula Trahon identity in San Francisco with a special skill of Text-to-Speech.  Paula, if you are not an AI bot, now would be a good time to speak up!  jajaja

Paula responded to an old Ron post from several years ago.  Ron, as you may recall holds the distinction as being the only person who we banned from this forum -- three or four times, we banned him!  He tried getting back in a couple of times with alternative accounts.

AI bots have been quite the scourge of online forums these days.

Anyone with Shakespere (sp?) in their email address at least deserves a quote...

For, being green, there is great hope…
   ~~ Henry VI Part 2, Act 3 Scene 1

That was my hope for some small trees that did not survive the rainy season, but I have yet to dig them up.  Hope lingers as it fades...

But anyway, nice to hear from some old friends!  jajaja

Sam, building a boat and another house in Guanacaste

Now I´m worried.  Earlier I didn´t take Sam´s boat building seriously because, after all, who in his right mind builds a boat in the middle of Guanacaste??  But if he´s actually doing it, does he have some secret knowledge?  Has he received a Word of warning?  Should we be getting ready for the Deluge?

But if he´s also building a house there, then I guess not.  Sam is just being Sam and smoking some weird stuff.

It´s good to hear from you guys.

Hi Don,

Was it 6 questions?  I lost count.  Regardless, the answer to every single one is, "Yes!"

I think I can almost be considered a serious boat builder now...  almost.  I do have my literal plans for building a beautiful 4.7m sailing dinghy in my sweaty palms and I am studying them.  I also have new recruits joining my tool kit every week (Thanks, Amazon!)  I'll have you know that just this year so far I have profited by no less than 13 shipments from Amazon with things like Japanese Pull Saws, a new Bosch Router, sets of router bits, a new random orbital sander, 210 sanding discs of various caliber, a 9-piece fiberglass kit including roller tools and detail brushes AND... la guinda del pastel:  winging its 10-day journey from unknown parts to my front gate is 150 meters of 50 mm fiberglass cloth tape which I intend to fully use to cover seams in my sailing dinghy!

Today I'm building sawhorses for my work area.  Almost!  jajaja

Here is what I'm going for...

image.png

Before the next Feast Day of Our Lady Guadalupe, I invite any and all out to Lago Arenal for a spin around the lake.  Picnicking is so much nicer on the "other" side and that would call for a boat.  With that stake in the ground, I've got 40 weeks to finish a simple dinghy build!  What could go wrong?

It is true that we are building a house for the youngest of the older girls who now has a 2 month old hanging on the tit.  We have walls and floor as of today and next week we expect to make progress on a roof.  So far we're building this on budget:  ¢2.4 million and we've got 82 m² enclosed on 5 sides with walls and a floor. Preliminary cost on roof materials is almost ¢700 mil but I will be able to knock ¢90+ mil off that with a discount.  We'll for sure be over ¢3 million by the time we need windows, toilets and electrical. I think we'll have the budding family living in a house without tile for under ¢5 million.

The answer is yes, I do have secret knowledge known only to me and God, who is presumed to pay attention to my thoughts.  Yes, I have received a warning and we should already be ready -- not just starting to get ready!

I should be smoking some weird stuff.  I have not partaken in the alcohol for 2 months now.  I've said I would go 2 months but maybe 6 months. Not for any particular reason, but before the new year started I had decided to give it a rest to let my body recoup a bit.  Besides, who's got time for drinking when I've got a boat to build! jajaja.

Too funny.  But you gave up booze?  Now that's definitely weird.  I went to the doc yesterday for my annual checkup and he ordered liver tests among other things.  Turns out my liver is fine.  Bring on the booze!  In fact, doc said my results are those of a 25 year old!  Said I'll live another 30 years.  I think I need to find a more realistic doc.

Interesting news about the house build.  My gardener wants to build a house and he thinks he can do it for 5 million or so.  I'll tell him your story.  That should encourage him.

Hi Don,

Yeah, I think it was back in November or December. I was following a podcast or two about neuroscience and I became convinced that the level of alcohol I had been consuming could have longer term cognitive effects. Studies showed that after 2 months of abstinence the brain could cleanse itself from what they classified as the effects of "chronic" drinking averaging 7 or more drinks a week.  For more robust drinkers it could take up to 6 months to accomplish the same level of cleansing.  Anyway, 2 months is in the bag and even weirder is that I've started a serious exercise routine.  This past month I brisk walked over 90 km even once hiking down the volcano to visit a long lost cajun friend and his goat.  I'm up to 51 pushups and 150 bicycle crunches a day.  Don't worry!  The next time we have a chance to visit, I will gladly sample your fine Flor or Cacique deluxe while discussing the grander things in life.  MAHA be damned!  I'm all in!  jajaja.

The house we're building is on land we already have and I previously ran water and electricity out to the build site, so that is not included in my cost numbers.  There is no bank or muni involved here either, we are winging it wild and free. The house the daughter chose was one of the prefab designs with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms plus kitchen and sala.  I think it is 82 m² inside the walls. We got the prefab "kit" -- posts and baldosas -- made up at a local fabricator and all be told, that ran ¢1.5 million.  The prefab kit for a smaller house could be had for a million or so. We got a crew of 4 to set up the walls, put a concrete floor throughout the house, and repello all the walls for ¢900 mil.  The yerno's cuñado is an experienced roofer and they are just going to help the yerno do the roof for free.  I forgot about ¢400 mil for cement, dirt, rocks, and a little bit of backhoe action. That'll take us to ¢3.5 million for floors, walls, and roof, not including electrical circuits, plumbing fixtures, windows and doors. We've already got a pile of old tires for drenaje. It could blow past my ¢5 million estimate if I get suckered into buying tile, but I think a modest 2 bedroom, 1 bath, house can be brought in for under ¢5 million if one is judicious in their spending.

Lest you think we be vagos in Guanacaste, I'll have you know that mi galerón is never idle!

What you see before you is but 1 of the 2 strongbacks upon which I will build my fledgling fleet of sailing dinghies.  Mis burras are only 94 cm wide and velero will be 6 ft at the beam.  I plan to lash a 2½ vara board on top of each burra to provide an ample base for building S/V Nauti Buoy.  Hmmm... maybe I need to think a bit more about a better name.  jajaja.  Anyway, I did chop up six 2x4's and zero fingers while building sawhorses this weekend.  I am so on pace for finishing this boat this year!  jajaja.
