¡Feliz día de la independencia!  A day to be proud of for all Ticos.

Our little girl won the prize for best farol in our Desfile de Faroles.  She made it entirely on her own and it was a cut-away of a traditional Tico house, complete with wood burning stove and things you'd find in a traditional cocina.

Today we all head out for the regular parade with 3 younguns in the band.  We always do the parades early around here to beat the afternoon rains...

Evidently less so than it would you having to get out of your cave!  jajaja.

Here's best farol of 2023, although it is a little beat up after the parade and a little rain.  Somewhere last night it lost its cotton smoke cloud coming out of the chimney...

I'll try attaching video of running with the torch, tocando la lira y tocando el tambor.  Yep, we broke another drumhead today.  Buddy, can you spare a dime?  ;-)

If this video attachment makes it, I'll try sending 2 more.
