LiCR,

rebotica 📢 - back room

rebotica

FEMININE NOUN
back room

Especially a back room behind a farmacia where one might rest or the pharmacist mixes drugs, or a back room behind a tienda, perhaps living quarters.  Similar words are trastienda (back shop) or aposento.  Sometimes it is spelled rebotiga.

Is this a Tiquisimo?  Even my dictionary doesn't know this word.

Hi Don,

I think that is regular Spanish Spanish.  Based upon 'botica" (drugstore), "re-" as in Latin, sort of "behind the", and "botica" -- behind the farmacia.  RAE has it listed, but not as regional Spanish:  rebotica.  Does your dictionary have the alternative spelling with a 'g': rebotiga?

You forced me to get off the sofa and get the big Academia Real dictionary down from the shelf.  You are not my favorite person right now!  But the word is in there.  Not that I will remember it.
