Hi folks,

Does anyone know anyone who can install agricultural fence posts in Sarapiqui using the recycled plastic ones? We need about 1KM of fence posts.

Thanks!

Ken

Hi Ken,

I know some folks out that way, I'll put out a few queries.

Tell us more about those recycled plastic posts.  I have not seen them around here (Guanacaste) at all.  I started using cement posts when I first fenced in a field, then changed to hard wood after seeing how easily the neighbor's horse busted off several of my cement posts.

You are talking about in Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui in Heredia about 45 km from Guapiles, right?  Close to Estación Biológica La Selva?

Hi Sam,

It's in El Roble de la Virgen. I was looking at the cement ones but was told by our local builder that you can get recycled plastic ones for the same price that allow you to staple to them and even fix electric fence line to them directly with grapas. He doesn't install them. I don't mind if the installer supplies the posts to get more meat on the bone or if I get the posts myself and they install them for me. Just need a fence installed to keep the cows in.

Thanks!

Ken

Hi Ken,

Those plastic posts are very interesting!  I've got a brother-in-law (plus other family) out that way and a good friend who just moved back that way and has most of his family in the area.  I've asked them to let me know if they know some folks good for doing this kind of work.  I sent them this link below as an example of what I was asking about:

The company referenced above says these are easy to install.  I wonder if their installation would be much different from installing regular wood or cement fence posts...

I noticed Sur also has plastic fence posts of a different style:

POSTE MADERA PLASTICA 2.75 PULG DIAMETRO X 1.90 MTS LARGO

The Sur documentation mentions an important point, which maybe the Sunrise does but I didn't notice, which is the UV protection for the plastic posts.

The friend that lives down the road from you on the other side of Braulio Carrillo said he knows about the plastic fence posts and has good responsible and experienced people for doing that kind of work who will do it for a reasonable price.  If you'd like, he can visit with you this afternoon to talk specifics.  This friend doesn't really speak much English, but he understands it more than he speaks it, if that is important...

Would you like their phone number?  Or for me to pass yours to them?  If you prefer I can help facilitate a face-to-face meeting so you can decide if they would be a good fit for what you need.
