Dear Colleagues,
with apologies for the late delivery, please be so kind to find the
draft DC-CIV Annual Activity Report for the year 2025. I invite you
all to read through it and comment on:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Z8OdOUKT3Tze-JMxJl9c_520EF3mVRchw4OOkElEQJE/edit?usp=sharing
It is very likely that I have forgotten both some important
interventions made on behalf of Core Internet Values by members of
the Coalition as well as key points made in our various sessions,
since I drafted most of the report from other session reports, some
of which are already summaries. I admit also getting some help from
AI tools when searching for specific quotes and interventions and in
receiving some help in drafting the report, pursuant which, I
thoroughly cross-checked the sources.
If you notice things that I have missed, please let me know as soon
as possible. Whilst we are late submitting an annual report,
deadlines are not so time-critical and I would rather have a full
report of our year's activities than something incomplete. You may
make suggestions and comments directly on the Google Doc - that's
what it is there for!
For reference, our past year reports and papers submitted to the IGF
Secretariat are posted on:
https://intgovforum.org/en/content/dynamic-coalition-on-core-internet-values-dc-civ
I plan to follow-up with the IGF Secretariat for links to our yearly
Sessions since 2018 to be added to that page.
I also take this opportunity to thank everyone who was involved in
the DC's Activities in 2025. We had a great turnout for the session
at EuroDIG that had started as a "flash session" but thanks to Joly
McFie, was properly archived. We also had an exceptional turnout at
the IGF Session since the DC CIV was one of few DCs that was
allocated a workshop slot, in a venue allowing fewer sessions than
usual. We made the best of it and received much praise for the
exceptional panel and interesting discussions.
This is your Dynamic Coalition, and I am more than ever convinced
that any issue of Internet Governance today, is as relevant to Core
Internet Values today than it was in 2009.
The main question is "where do we start?" because there is so much
going on.
At present, we have several threads:
- AI Thread in collaboration with DC-Network Neutrality
- Core Values and IoT thread in collaboration with DC-IoT
- Core Internet Values Tracking thread with CIVOBS
How do we push all of these and build on our experience and past
sessions? Should we constitute sub-groups? Topic Leads? Let's
discuss.
In the meantime, please comment on the Activity Report by Wednesday
1st April 2026.
Kindest regards,
Olivier MJ Crépin-Leblond
DC Core Internet Values Chair
