Videos like these are an okay guide, but you have to keep in mind that those speeds and feeds are really only applicable to his machine.

For instance the CNC router at Artifactory tops out at 1300mm/min linear speed, but the spindle being 1500w is capable of much deeper cuts with bigger cutters than what he is using here.

Ultimately the best way to work this out it is to do the math on it and then work back from there until you find something that works well for the machine you're using.

If you look at the top chart you can see the recommended RPM and from that the linear feed rate, while the lower chart gives you some typical chip loadings for different materials.

Yes Lemming more production oriented more rigid machines using known quality tooling can be pushed a lot harder.

The settings used in the video were a good guide for us to do some test cuts using High speed steel tooling cutting MDF (Not ideal it carbide tools last a lot longer cutting MDF)

We got good results using a no name two flute 6mm ball end mill at 500 and 1000mm per min at 20000rpm

I particularly like the way the tests were performed at various speeds and feeds producing a physical guide that demonstrates what a particular machine is capable of. Tables are good for reference but actual testing is the only real proof of the capability of a particular machine

Regards
John.
