Vintage EPROM programmer, anyone got a manual?

Hello, I am sure I have this as a hard copy, I have just had a squiz at some data archives and found the code to run it mk 1 and mk2.

Looks like I haven't digitized the copies of the instructions that came with that kit.

I'll have a look through my books for it, I'll send you a link in a day or 2 to a download on my site.

I'll put both there, but for now, here is a copy of the code and related files, I found on the net years ago.

I have put the 3.3mb zip on google drive, (see link below)  also placed it on my amateur radio website,

Please do yell at me if I haven't updated this email with new info, like I have found it or have not, in say a week. There is nothing like the original instructions for the project.

P.S. I was also looking at buying a Raspberry Pi, if the Group offers these, then I am interested in obtaining one. A link from a Pi site brought me to CCHS. https://www.adafruit.com/distributors

All the best, Kevin Forbes, VK3UKF.

Thanks.

Note: We don't encourage copyright violation. And realize that it is a
rather difficult area (even for Google Books), since so much valuable
information is now out-of-print. It isn't economic for publishers to
spend time/money making these works available ... and at the same time,
they prevent anyone else from doing it. Sigh. We all need to push for
common sense legal reform in these cases.

It would appear that you've attached a 3.3 Mb (4.6 Mb when MIME encoded)
file to this email ... sent to hundreds of people.

We try to avoid that.

Yes, a link (by itself) is better.

It hasn't gone "out" yet, has it?   Isn't it possible for someone with admin/moderator privileges to strip or delete and repost?

Oops would pay to check my inbox carefully first.

It wasn't a very big digest fortunately.  Did someone strip off the attachment?

No, I got the attachment.

The Google Groups FAQ suggests that it's possible to set an attachment
size limit below the default of 5Mb:

I've had a look through the management interface, read the FAQ, browsed
some support forums ... and haven't seen anything obvious yet.

Hi Andy,

Yay for Google Groups' generally confusing set of interfaces! :)

I've found it on an OpenTechSchool group that I admin. Whether it is
in the same place on a "vanilla" group (ie without Google Apps) I
don't know, sorry!

From the main web page for the group:

* Click "Manage" (right hand side near top)

* Left hand sidebar, click Settings -> Email Options

* Top heading is "Subject prefix", scroll down to the bottom and "Max
Message Size" is the second last field.

Hope that helps.

The schematics and PCB overlay diagram and stuff are there... meaning that if somebody is interested, they can use that to finish building the old EPROM programmer kit at the hackerspace, which needs the right ICs installed in the right sockets, and the DB25 connector added to the box and wired up appropriately. Kind of pointless though, since you'd need to find some ancient PC from 1993 with a parallel port and Windows 3.1 or something to get the software running usably. And nobody ever uses EPROMs these days anyway.

Thanks for such specific instructions.

For the CCHS Google Group, whilst "Manage", "Email Options" and "Subject
prefix" are there ...

... there is no "Max Message Size" field :(

Hello folks.

Sorry for the trouble I seem to have caused with an email attachment.
I got the points above on group post ettiquette, perhaps reason for a sticky for flybys dropping in like me.

I have a question below, I would like to hear the reply before I move, in case I knock over any more pots.

The search for Glenn Pure's archived information turns up first,

http://www.evans-pure.net/

You should then click on the link Electronics on the top left.

http://www.evans-pure.net/electron.htm

Do NOT right click and open a new tab, it will take you here, it is less specific.

http://glenn.pure.site.net.au/electron.htm

Which is actually a web ring page,

this url
http://www.webring.org/hub/electronicsfreel?w=1280;rh=http%3A%2F%2Fglenn.pure.site.net.au%2Felectron.htm;rd=1
or another may be where you end up.

--------------

There is more information to be had than the one zip linked to above.

Interface software for the 1993 Electronics Australia EPROM programmer.
This software is DOS based and fairly ancient.
But if you've got one of these programmers, you'll need it!
http://glenn.pure.site.net.au/eprom.zip

Zipped file containing circuit diagram, PCB patterns etc for EPROM programmer.
This file is for the original programmer design and also contains instructions to
modify the programmer to take 27512 EPROMs.
http://glenn.pure.site.net.au/epromdoc.zip

Zipped file containing revised circuit diagram,
PCB patterns etc for modified EPROM programmer that enables it to handle up to 1 megabit EPROMs.
http://glenn.pure.site.net.au/1meg_mod.zip

Zipped file containing an rtf document that provides an
introduction to EPROMs for those new to them (rtf files can be read with most word processors).
http://glenn.pure.site.net.au/e_primer.zip

There were 2 versions of programmer released.

The second has documentation dated 2000.
Win98 or XP will be fine.

A lot of people DO use these devices still.
Many people have equipment that contains EPROMS and EEPROMS.
Especially radio equipment that has been in service for a long time.
The older it is, the cheaper it is, making a repeater or ground station less costly to begin.

As Luke points out above though, I am also in agreeance that the project will need an older PC that
has a real DB25 parallel port, a USB/parallel port won't work as the original chips aren't there.

Agreeance? Yes, it is a bit 19th century, never mind 20th, I guess that makes me ancient ancient.
Fits in with the grey hairs on my head.

I ask my question below because I am somewhat confused by the responses.

A conversation out of context from the O.P. purpose perhaps.
I guess you are trying to put a filter on attachments coming in on emails.

Should I not reply as helpfully as I can to a call for assistance?

My thoughts were that one person helping out another in a manner that I consider
to be, fair usage, Free of Charge and for the purpose of learning, would be fine.

What should I do now?
Do you want me to send you a copy of the 2000 documents for the project or, no, don't do it Kevin?
Can you get by with the info from Luke's link and the others on Glenn Pure's site?

I was only trying to be helpful to a valid question that was asked.

Thanks folks.

Kevin, VK3UKF.

Hello again,

here is a link for a zip file containing the documents for the K-3602 kit, doc-1, plus doc-2, plus an insert that was in there.

http://www.vk3ukf.com/K-3602-Kit-Docs.zip

about 32mb.

I tested the download, it worked for me.
If there is a problem, let me know.

Cheers, VK3UKF.

Is this EPROM Burner still kicking around. I need to downgrade the Monitor ROM’s in my Exidy Sorcerer to the original 1978 release to debug an old software title that isn’t behaving itself.
