Hi to all,

I am relatively new to the world of kafka etc. I am trying to use the cassandra sink from kafka connector. My question is that all the tutorials i see use the confluent platform. Is this mandatory? Can I not use my existing installation of kafka and zookeper with kafka connect?

Kind Regards,
Ioannsi Ntantis

No, it is not required. You can use your existing installation of Kafka and Zookeeper.

More broadly, CP software is compatible with an Apache release of the same. http://docs.confluent.io/3.1.1/platform.html explains what is included in the open source and enterprise versions of the platform and the minor ways in which Confluent releases may differ slightly from a corresponding Apache release.
