Hey
First:
Great program!!

Second:
Is COLMAP capable of using multiple Cores in the CPU or is it single threading? Be course it seems like it never uses more than 25% of my 4 core CPU.
Question comes up, be course I'm thinking of having a dedicated PC for running COLMAP, and there is no need for a 16 core monster if a dual core of same single threading speed can do it just as good.

Hi,

Thanks.

Colmap has multi CPU and multi GPU support. The amount of parallelization depends on the stage of the reconstruction process. In which stage are you seeing the low CPU usage?

Best,
Johannes

It is during dense reconstruction,
But then it might just be my GPU that is the bottleneck, so I cant use the full potential of the CPU.

By the way, the max image sizes stated during Feature extraction and during dense reconstruction, how are they defined?

Best,
Christian

The maximum image size defines the maximum image dimension on which features are extracted and multi view stereo is computed. If an image exceeds this threshold, it is downsampled.

Johannes
