I've just rebuilt an app and when I try to install it via iTunes on my test device, it looks like it's installed, but when you click on the icon, the name changes to "Installing..." and nothing happens. I've tried an app store build and a debug build and they both do the same. I tried another app, and it's fine. The phone is an iPhone4, running iOS 7.1.2.

What can I do to debug whatever the issue may be ?

There are quite a few reasons this can happen, e.g. parental lock, OS problems etc.

The app that installs and the one that doesn't are very similar in their functionality, and the CN1 settings are identical.

Have you any suggestions of what I can look at to isolate the issue ?

Well, I give up. I think that's it for me with Apple devices. Googling turns up a heap of people with the same issue, with all manner of advice to fix. I completely reset the device and the app still won't install. It's unlikely to be a CN1 issue.

I have to say, every time I do anything with Apple it turns out to take way more time than it should. Life would be so much nicer if I never had to deal with anything Apple.

To be fair I had my fair share of issues like that on Android and worse stuff on Windows.
That frustrating annoying closed garden issues are a part of what makes programming hard.

Turns out it was to do with the device profile. I deleted everything (certs, devices, provisioning profiles), re-created and everything good now.
