Hi! I'm a new guy to frontend, but with lots of experience in backend.

Just a few questions:

1.- Is codename one working over maven, or it just works including the plugin on my ide (I use netbeans)? The question is because I have a few proyects and utilities in maven I would like to use (may be because i dont understant right now how mobile development works...)

2.- On the backend I work pretty much with microservices and rest services (for example, i deploy most of them with vertx, some other with spring). If I deploy them on a public server for example, would I be able to consume it?

I just want to start understanding how this works... maybe i'm just asking stupid questions...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some context about me...

I'm quite new to codename one. I've litteraly discovered the project a few days ago.

I've been looking at the internet, trying to understand how codename one works. I'm a new frontend guy comming from years working with backend, web services, microservices, databases... bla bla bla.

A year ago i started using javafx to understand a little bit of how frontend guys should think (or how users think also) and started to try gluonhq (just a few tests on how it works).

I'm currently not quite convinced on giving the jump to start using gluon on proffesional work, because of the stuff happening with the new java versions and all that.  Is javafx really gonna die?

Is there when i've got hit by codename one and I realized I would like to try it...

Hi,

1. No. You can use ant but maven won't give you a real benefit as most libraries won't work out of the box. You can use the extensions in the extension manger.

2. Sure. You would be able to use the Rest class to consume JSON webservices easily.
