Hello Shai,

I tried reaching you and Chen on your email addresses @codename-one.intercom-mail.com with some questions about codenameone and to inquire same about codenameone concepts. I have sent the mail twice but have not gotten a reply. Hence, i decided to use this forum to reach you perhaps i will get a response. Here are the questions and I wish you could provide responses to them in as much details as you can.

1.  I already write all my APIs with node.js. Can codenameone work with a node.js backend.
2.  Can codenameone work with the socket.io libraries for realtime communication as is on mordern technologies. Especially considering that codenmameone is also of mordern technology.
3.  Which tutorials can you point me at to help me achieve these priorities. Especially in terms of GUI designs.
4.  I intend to purchase the 'Build Real World Full Stack Mobile Apps in Java' tutorial on Codenameone Academy, could you direct me as well to other turotials that will simplify the usage in principle and practise, Codenameone for the purposes of schieveing these type of applications. Also, is this tutorial a good option for my intentions.
5.  Can i get a resource for all tutorials and explanations about the cutting edge codenameone GUIs that look PSD, Sketch oriented.
6.  Is it possible to do a UI design on codenameone using an xml form an android design. I.e if i can convert my designs to an xml will i be able to import it in as a codenameone GUI desgin?
7.  Does codenameone suppose internationilization even when they languages are not on Google Transalate or any of the translator APIs such that i can use a json to achieve the purpose?
8.  There is a UI project that is still in beta, SUPERNOVA (https://supernova.studio/), do you have any experience as to use it for the purpose codenameone design. I did see your post 3-4 months ago on their forum so i take it that something is in the pipeline. But as of now, if i take my sketch designs to SUPERNOVA, could you enlighten on how to adapt the java/android code for codenameone.

If you are experiencing an issue please mention the full platform your issue applies to:
IDE: NetBeans/Eclipse/IDEA
Desktop OS
Simulator
Device

Hi,
this is the free support forum. Even with paid accounts that's not the official support channel so random emails are discarded.

1. Yes
2. Yes see websockets cn1lib
4. I think it should be good but that depends on your needs and skill level both of which are hard to gauge off the internet.
5. How is this different from #3?
6. Our UI is incompatible with Android's XML UI layout. The new GUI builder uses an XML format for the layout code.
8. There was no progress on that front. I'm not sure what they are doing today and I haven't kept up.

Thanks for your response.

I am trying to create a startup app for a client whose target are Farmers in emerging economies precisely Africa. So there is need to develop and target platforms other than Android and iOS as some of them may not have the luxury of such platforms (phones). I wanted to be sure am picking the right choice to extend chating support and some other social networking concepts to platforms beyond Android and iOS. For instance, J2ME, Blackbeery and Windows. Are all these 3 platforms in addition to Android and iOS possible with apps developed on the Codenameone platform? Thank you. I still have some unclear/unsetled enquiries. A major one is that, the codenameone.teachable.com site, is there a possibility to pay like 3 or 4 installments for the course instead of the 10 and 13 installments, if I cant pay once. That for me will be fairer than a 10 months or 13 months.

J2ME & RIM support are deprecated and we can't guarantee they will continue working or even whether they are still working. To my knowledge they aren't used by any of our current users.
We'll review the possibility of adding more payment options. We are trying to minimize the number of options to reduce confusion.

Hi,

I waited 5 days to see if there would be more options like I inquired about the payment option. I am trying to wait before choosing a payment option. Do you have a timeline to get that done. OR if i just go ahead with either the 10 or 13 months, can I change the plan into a newer plan when you eventually sort that out.?

Also, though J2ME and RIM ports are deprecated. is there a way any of them can be looked into and what do I need to do to qualify for such ports or any of them to be re-activated. If you may, which of them is the easiest for Codenameone to re-activate for now?

Thanks

Hi,
I don't know when/if we'll get around to additional pricing tiers. We have a lot of work for the end of the year both with a new release and major demo coming out so we aren't doing anything besides that...

J2ME & RIM are dead platforms we won't invest time in them and don't intend fixing issues there.
