to Colorado Birds
Slowest day EVER! (Or close to it.....) I don't remember another perfectly decent day weather-wise, when we stayed open all day, that we only caught 3 birds - 2 new Song Sparrows and a Spotted Towhee we banded yesterday. Banding station volunteers helped entertain our many visitors by pointing out a wide array of raptors high in the sky as they made net runs past empty nets. Hoping for much better tomorrow!
Come
visit (although you may want to wait until things pick up a bit)! Station is open daily, weather permitting, through the end of May, except for May 10-12 and 28. We open nets about 6:30 and close around noon. If you would like to visit on a weekend, you must pre-register - go to the Audubon Society of Greater Denver website. Perhaps the best time for birders to visit is early in the morning during the week - fewer people and more birds! (School groups arrive each day
between 9:30 and 10:30.)
