A very slow day gave us time to really appreciate the young, male Sharp-shinned Hawk we caught mid-morning.  He must have been down at the nets looking for breakfast, although whichever songbird he was after escaped both him and the net.  He was on the small side - wing, tail, weight - even for a male, but his talons were big and strong and ready to grab at anything within reach.

Here's the 15 new birds captured today:

Sharp-shinned Hawk 1
Ruby-crowned Kinglet 2
Hermit Thrush 1
Orange-crowned Warbler 2
Yellow-rumped Warbler, Audubon's 2
Yellow-rumped Warbler, unknown 1
Song Sparrow 4 new, 1 banded previous year
Dark-eyed Junco, Oregon 1
