I stepped outside into my Centennial yard this morning (10/19) to appreciate last night's rain. An unfamiliar chip, then a flyby of a small bird sent me scurrying inside for my binoculars. (You'd think I'd learn to step outside with them.)
I got back outside just in time to get one view of an unfamiliar warbler's face. (Unfamiliar, because it's been a while since I've seen one.) I was able to piece together what I saw into an identification: a yard first Nashville Warbler.
Also: I received a second hand report (with photos) of a Common Poorwill in downtown Denver on Thursday (10/17) afternoon / early evening.

PS: Where's autumn? I have first-year desert plants holding up impossible pink flowers against the shortening days.
