Barr continues to be busy - Today, we banded 57 new, and recaptured 19 that we had banded earlier this season plus 1 House Wren that we banded last fall.  No unusual species - Just lots of birds going about the business of end of breeding and early migration.  House Wrens in all stages of molt and development - some that were likely from early broods that are finishing up their body molt and will soon be putting on fat, others looked like they left the nest in the last day or two.  Most of the Wilson's are hatch year birds; the adults will come through later in the season.  Again, most of our recaptures are putting on fat and gaining weight; there seems to be a plentiful supply of food.

Here's the breakdown for the birds banded today:

Western Wood-pewee 1
Willow Flycatcher 1
Dusky Flycatcher 2
House Wren 9
Orange-crowned Warbler 4
Yellow Warbler 5
Wilson's Warbler 27
Chipping Sparrow 8

We are closed tomorrow (Wed, 9/3), then open Thurs, Fri, Sat.  Closed Sun and Mon.
