Chico Basin Ranch Open to Birders August 29 – Oct 2
Fall migration is underway and we’ll soon be able to visit Chico. As a reminder, all will need to register and pay ahead of time; you may register up to 7 days in advance. For example, registration for 8.29.25 begins tomorrow, 8.22.25. Please register via our website: https://www.aikenaudubon.com/birding/local-birding/chico-basin-ranch/ aikenaudubon.com. The cost is $15/person.
Please note that banding set-up will take place on Aug 29; there will be no banding on that date.
Groups of 10-12 individuals may register at any time but will need to contact the administrator in order to sign up. https://www.tickettailor.com/events/aikenaudubon/1203829?
Consider signing up for Aiken’s monthly emails to receive updates at: AikenAudubon.com, under “About”.
There have been some changes at the banding station area, including a new structure. Also, the grasses and sunflowers on the south side of the Russian olive grove are quite high and a bit difficult to navigate. We suggest you wear pants and ask for your patience.
On a positive note, we are working with the State Land Board and Bird Conservancy of the Rockies to possibly extend the access period.
Thank you,
Aiken Audubon
