Stopped by Grandview Cemetary in Fort Collins this afternoon 4:30-5:10pm. The previously reported Northern Parula was feeding in the same psyllid-infested hackberry tree at the northeast corner of cemetary section #1. Was feeding very sluggishly and only glimpsed it thrice in about 5 minutes of standing under the tree, so be patient. Curious if this bird will stick around through tonight's possible freeze. The creek channel by the small headquarters building was hopping with birds, many of which were bathing in the ditch. New to town so not sure if any of these are early or late (tanagers?). Seen today:
Black-capped Chickadee - 3
Mountain Chickadee - 1
Red-breasted Nuthatch - 3
White-breasted Nuthatch - 1
Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 1
N. Parula - 1
Audubon's Warbler - 2
Chipping Sparrow - 20-30
Dark-eyed Junco - 5
Western Tanager - 2 m,f
Good birding,
Derek Hill
