Hello, Birders.
Lots of birds this sunny Saturday morning, May 30, along the generally north-to-south transect from Gun Barrel Hill to Teller Farms, Boulder County, including:
2 black-chinned hummingbirds and 1 gray flycatcher in an intriguing patch of scrubby, rocky habitat near the southeast corner of Gun Barrel Hill. Looked like something out of Southeast Colorado. Thought I heard a distant canyon towhee in there, too, but hard to hear over all the spotted towhees.
singing blue grosbeaks and displaying Wilson snipes widely scattered
as to migrants, a weakly singing western tanager and a lustily singing Swainson thrush, both near Teller Lake No. 5
In the totally random department, a Franklin gull flying past.
