A White-eyed Vireo was foraging in mature aspen catkins in the West Chicago Creek campground Wednes (5/25/16) afternoon at 4pm-5pm. I saw the bird with a few Yellow-rumped Warblers and two Black-capped Chickadees Wednesday evening but didn't refind the bird Thursday morning. The loose flock was between the end of the pay USFS campground and the parking area for the Hell's Hole trailhead. They were in the aspens on the slope above the creek and between the campground/parking area. My ebird list with photos is posted here.

I didn't see any insects in the catkins -- just tons of tiny mature seeds.

From Idaho Springs the campground is up Hwy 103 (road to Mt Evans) and then west on W Chicago Creek Rd.

Sorry for the slow post! No phone reception up there.
