Lots of activity today - even with a brief closing mid-morning for wind, we banded 77 birds. Like Ira Sander's front yard, we had our first Nashville Warbler and Green-tailed Towhee today, plus a lovely Ovenbird. Here's the breakdown of the 77 new:
Western Wood Pewee 1
House Wren 4
Ruby-crowned Kinglet 1
Orange-crowned Warbler 8
Nashville Warbler 1
Yellow Warbler 5
Townsend's Warbler 1
Ovenbird 1
Common Yellowthroat 3
Wilson's Warbler 48
Green-tailed Towhee 1
Chipping Sparrow 1
Song Sparrow 2
We will be open 6 days per week (closed Mondays), weather permitting, through October 14. We are opening nets at 6:30 and should have birds back at the station by 7:15. We will close most days by about 11:30 (closing earlier now because of heat). School groups arrive most weekdays at about 9:30. The best time to visit (fewest people, most birds) is before 9:30 weekdays and Sundays.
Come visit!
