In addition to the ducks/gulls/geese that you would expect, there was a harbinger - a Western Meadowlark singing lustily from a fence post.   A couple of red-winged blackbirds were singing, but their hearts weren't in it, although one female red wing was taking an interest....
I also got to see a mature bald eagle cruise over and dive on a target in the weeds.   Failing to reappear, probably got some lunch.

I will be traveling out of the country from Thursday, February 11 through Wednesday, March 2 with very little email access.  If it is urgent, I will try to reply while I am away but, if not, I will reply to your email when I return. Thank you.

Hey, everybody. Art Wainwright and I birded Stearns Lake, Boulder County, late this warm, windy Saturday afternoon, Feb. 13. Highlights were 2 northern pintails and a wood duck. Despite the howling wind, the loudly declaiming western meadowlarks were not to be denied.

Over at the innominate pond across the way in Broomfield County was a "blue" goose x Canada goose hybrid. Photos here:

Earlier in the day at Greenlee Preserve, Boulder County, I heard and sort of saw a fog-shrouded greater white-fronted goose.

And yesterday, Friday, Feb. 12, at Settlers Park, Boulder County, Hannah Floyd and I watched pygmy nuthatches building a nest, a remarkable performance. Photos here:
