I found my first Calliope Hummingbird for the year today while hiking Reynold’s Park south of Conifer. It was a female right at the spot were Eagle View trail bends back on its self along a ravine, on the way to the top. The migrating hummers are starting to move south now it seems. Also of note was a female Pine Grosbeak. I found this along Raven’s Roost trail towards the begging not fare from Elkhorn trail along the climb up. It was exciting for me as I have not seen one in years and also for ebird apparently, I drew a flag for reporting it. A good way to spend the Fourth. So if you are out in the mountain areas be on the lookout for the migrant hummers, they might be starting or this could just be a very early migrant, not sure.
