Folks- my dad Jim just called to mention that he's seeing the Surf Scoter first reported by Hugh Kingery at S Platte Reservoir in South Platte Park on October 24.

Still here at 145 pm, clearly visible and not associating with any other birds on water

David Starbuck, Lark Latch and I just viewed the Surf Scott at South Platte Reservoir. It was all the way on the North side about 500 yards away. Even so, the white spot behind the eye and the distinctive bill were clearly visible through the scope.
