RMBO Ridgway Banding Report 9/12/14 and 9/13/14

Yesterday had been a great day, with 14 birds banded, which was good for the school kids.   Unfortunately, it was fairly slow today, the Public Day, with only 5 birds among four species.  The teachers and other public members still seemed to greatly enjoy the experience, even with so few birds.

However, we got our first Lazuli Bunting of the season yesterday, as well as our first American Robin, Orange-crowned Warbler, and Western Scrub Jay today, and it was very nice to see so many new species for this banding season.

We actually caught 6 AMROs, but two self-released before we got to the net and two more had tongued themselves fairly badly and had stressed enough in the net, so were released unprocessed.

As well, a Nashville Warbler was seen at the park late in the morning on 9/12.
